Daffodils (botanically called Narcissus) are long term perennials and make for great companions to other bulbs annuals and all sorts of shrubs. They accent most any garden and are an inexpensive solution to adding color to your garden. They are relatively pest free and deer will not eat them. Daffodil classifications are divided into 13 divisions according to their flower shape and heritage by the American Daffodil Society. They do well throughout most of the U.S. if there is a discernible winter. Ask anyone anywhere to draw a daffodil and this is the variety most people will have in mind. Dutch Master is a tried and true classic. It is an improvement on the famous King Alfred creating an early burst of yellow color.
